About

African Earth Energy Group is driving South Africa's clean energy revolution with the 9 MW Mokopane Solar Farm 1 in Western Cape. Harnessing the region's abundant sunlight, this project delivers reliable renewable energy, fostering economic growth and environmental stewardship in local communities.

Project Impact

Set for grid connection in 2029, Mokopane Solar Farm 1 will transform Western Cape's energy landscape by generating 9 MW of clean power. The project will create 40 direct jobs during construction, 120 indirect jobs, and 5 permanent positions, boosting local employment and sustainable development.

Carbon Emissions

Mokopane Solar Farm 1 will reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 5,880 metric tons annually, equivalent to removing ~1,280 passenger cars from the road each year (based on ~4.6 metric tons CO₂/car/year). This initiative significantly supports South Africa's climate goals, paving the way for a greener future.

Location

Located in the sun-rich Western Cape, Mokopane Solar Farm 1 is ideally positioned to maximize solar energy production. The province's high solar irradiance ensures optimal performance, making this project a vital step toward sustainable energy development in South Africa.
