About

African Earth Energy Group is leading South Africa's clean energy revolution with the 75 MW Karoo Solar Farm in Western Cape's Karoo region. Harnessing the area's abundant sunlight, this project delivers reliable renewable energy, fostering economic growth and environmental stewardship in local communities.

Project Impact

Set for grid connection in 2029, Karoo Solar Farm will transform Western Cape's energy landscape by generating 75 MW of clean power. The project will create 300 direct jobs during construction, 900 indirect jobs, and 30 permanent positions, significantly boosting local employment and sustainable development.

Carbon Emissions

Karoo Solar Farm will reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 49,000 metric tons annually, equivalent to removing ~10,652 passenger cars from the road each year (based on ~4.6 metric tons CO₂/car/year). This initiative plays a vital role in advancing South Africa's climate goals for a greener future.

Location

Located in the sun-rich Karoo region of Western Cape, Karoo Solar Farm is ideally positioned to maximize solar energy production. The province's high solar irradiance ensures optimal performance, making this project a cornerstone of sustainable energy development in South Africa.
