About

African Earth Energy Group is advancing South Africa's clean energy revolution with the 100 MW Drakensberg Solar Farm in KwaZulu Natal's Drakensberg region. By harnessing the region's abundant sunlight, this project delivers reliable renewable energy, promoting economic growth and environmental stewardship in local communities.

Project Impact

Set for grid connection in 2029, Drakensberg Solar Farm will transform Kwazulu Natal's energy landscape by generating 100 MW of clean power. The project will create 400 direct jobs during construction, 1,200 indirect jobs, and 40 permanent positions, significantly enhancing local employment and sustainable development.

Carbon Emissions

Drakensberg Solar Farm will reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 140,000 metric tons annually, equivalent to removing ~30,435 passenger cars from the road each year (based on ~4.6 metric tons CO₂/car/year). This initiative strongly supports South Africa's climate goals, contributing to a greener future.

Location

Located in the sun-rich Drakensberg region of KwaZulu Natal, Drakensberg Solar Farm is ideally positioned to maximize solar energy production. The region's high solar irradiance ensures optimal performance, making this project a cornerstone of sustainable energy development in South Africa.
